Porgies are strong fighting fish and are excellent on the table. This is one species of porgy that I personally, along with others, prefer over most snapper. It is a good white meat like snapper but is a little more firm. Porgies live near the bottom with other reef fish. Joltheads are one of the larger breed of Porgies. They use there powerful teeth and jaws to feed on things such as sea urchins and crabs.
