Wahoo trolling, or high speed trolling is a technique used to raise some impressive fish. Although we do offer this type of trip in half, 3/4, and full day private charters, we tend to troll, (if the water conditions are decent) for wahoo a little bit at the beginning and or end of every different type of charter we offer. We offer a unique experience and have some of the best wahoo trolling waters in the South Florida area.
Location
Charters on “El Gringo” launch from the Miami Beach Marina and travels the area betweenFt, Lauderdale and Key Largo—focusing on a drop off area called “The edge.” Wahoo cruise the waters all year round, but the season starts in earnest in October and runs through March. While the waters can get rough at times, there are plenty of great days for fishing in the beautiful Florida winters.
While we are high speed trolling for wahoo, other fish such as dolphin, kingfish and, tuna are commonly seen. Like any experienced angler knows, be prepared for anything. We use lures with a combination of natural bait on heavy tackle and wire. Our crew will keep you up to date with information about what fish you can keep and what fish are catch and release. When you keep the fish, we clean them for you and can always recommend great local restaurants that will prepare your fish too.
El Gringo allows for up to six to fish. We offer private charters, so you have that one-on-one experience. This is ideal for both novice fishermen and experienced anglers. Captain Scott and his crew work great with children too.
Trolling for wahoo and other fish with us on “El Gringo” is an experience you will not soon forget. We do everything we can to make this enjoyable, so all you need to do is relax and fish. All equipment is provided, but you are welcome to bring and use your own if you prefer. However, please DO bring your snacks and drinks for the trip.
